Low-Carb Diets and Pregnancy

Many women dread packing on those pregnancy pounds — especially packing on too many pounds. But low (at least as far as carbs are concerned) isn't the way to go when you're expecting, even if you're a weight watcher from way back. And here's why: A diet without complex carbohydrates is a diet deficient in vital baby-making nutrients — including the ever-important folic acid, among other vitamins and minerals, as well as good-for-mom fiber (which fights constipation) and B vitamins (which combat morning sickness). What's more, a low-carb diet is usually sky-high in protein; while a moderate protein intake (about 75 grams, or three servings a day) is good for a developing fetus, much more than that isn't.So how can you maintain a healthy weight gain without relying on diet fads? By eating a well-balanced mix of those healthy complex carbohydrates (and the operative word is complex), such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lean protein and calcium-rich foods, and staying away from high fat and junk foods…

To your health and baby's!.

Losing weight at pregnancy

By now, chances are you're pretty much used to riding the weight gain elevator. (Going up? And up? And up?) So used to it, that you probably don't even blink — or recoil in horror — as your practitioner's scale tallies up your most recent gain (and the nurse announces it loudly to anyone passing through the hallway before recording it in your chart).

Which may make this week's weigh-in a little surprising, and perhaps a little unsettling — particularly if you're not prepared for it. Because if you're like most women who've reached the end of pregnancy, you've also reached the end of pregnancy weight gain. Instead of "going up" as per usual, the numbers on the scale at 41 weeks pregnant may not be going anywhere — or may even be "going down," tracking a weight loss during this pregnancy home stretch.

You may be at a loss to explain your loss (or lack of gain) by looking in the mirror (that is, if you're still looking in those). After all, your legs and ankles are still plenty puffy, your belly is the size of a prize-winning watermelon, and there's no way you can squeeze into your old shoes, never mind your wedding band.So what triggers this typical late pregnancy trend? Baby's certainly not to blame (and, don't worry — hasn't gotten those tiny hands on a copy of South Beach yet). In fact, he or she is likely packing on pounds even if you're not (and even if you're dropping them).

This normal weight-gain slow down or standstill is actually one way that your body gets ready for labor — a sign that all systems are gearing up for the big event (and for the much bigger weight loss of childbirth). Here's what may account for this late pregnancy "down scale":

  • Toward the end of pregnancy, the level of amniotic fluid starts to decrease — even before your water officially "breaks." Less amniotic fluid means less water weight, literally.
  • The increased urge that you're feeling (all the time) to urinate now that your baby's head is pressing down on your bladder means that you're flushing out fluids faster than ever before. Less water in your body — less weight in your body.
  • On the toilet a lot lately — and not just to pee? Loose bowels as labor approaches can free you of some ounces — or even pounds.
  • Sweating like a pig — or just a full term pregnant mom-to-be? Now that the end (of pregnancy) is near, your body is busily ridding itself of fluid it won't be needing once its baby-making factory shuts down. The more you sweat, the more weight you lose. (And expect the sweat to pick up even more after delivery. The first postpartum week, especially, will be a very damp one — as your body steps up the sweat production to flush out the pounds of fluids that have accumulated over the last nine months.)
  • Even in your beached whale state, you might actually be burning more calories than ever if your nesting instinct has kicked into high gear. (Did you really clean four closets in three days?)

But while your gaining days may be over (at least as far as this pregnancy is concerned), don't forget that you're still providing 24-hour catering to your ever-growing baby. So keep that steady supply of nutrients coming (especially those vital brain-building ones, like DHA and protein) right up until delivery day. As tempting as it might be to start cutting back on food intake (either because you'd like to jump-start your postpartum weight gain or because you're just plain out of tummy room), don't. Continue sticking to The Pregnancy Diet (just another week to go!), and keep the fluids flowing (even though you're tired of them flowing out; see Drinking for Two). Just remember: Right around the corner is your baby — and with his or her arrival, your biggest one-day weight-loss total ever!.

Desperate to Lose Weight Quickly? This is for You

Are you desperate to lose weight quickly? Maybe your health is being affected. Maybe you've realized you can't fit in your old "fat jeans". I hope you find this article helpful...

For Those Desperate to Lose Weight Quickly

Whatever your reasoning behind wanting to lose weight fast, there is hope. Let's go over some ground rules first:

No matter how desperate you are to lose weight quickly, there is no sense in you doing the following:

* Starving yourself.

* Vomiting (Purging).

* Going on extreme diets.

* Exercising more than 2 hours daily.

You might think these are common sense, but please be aware that these are unhealthy and dangerous. The body is a finely designed machine that, when treated properly, will give you great results. Conversely, if you treat your body improperly, it will give you bad results.

Here is what you should be doing if your desperate to lose weight quickly:

Eat Low-Calorie, Nutrient Dense Foods:
In other words, you need to be eating veggies. Vegetables are a great source of fiber and nutrients that your body absolutely loves.

Many vegetables are considered "negative calorie foods" which means they take more calories to burn off and digest than they actually put into your body. This makes your body a calorie burning machine, and forces it to burn body fat for energy. Vegetables are a must for those desperate to lose weight quickly, and to keep off the weight.

Burn More Calories than Your Eat:
The calories that you don't burn throughout your day turns to fat over time because your body wants to store them for later use. With this in mind, give your body less calories, and it will have less to store.

If your burn the calories that you eat, then you're going to be better off.

If you burn more calories than that of what you eat, then the opposite effect takes place: you burn the stored body fat (which is what your stomach is).

Staying active is going to help you lose weight quickly.

Find Friends and Challenge Each Other:
If you're desperate to lose weight quickly, then you probably have friends who are also eager to get healthier. Find them, and help each other stay motivated.

Make a spectacle of it. Write out a contract, a goal, a plan, and keep each other accountable. This will help both you and your friends stay motivated to lose weight and get healthier. Continue Reading on "Desperate to Lose Weight Quickly? This is for You

The Fastest Way to Lose Weight - How to Lose 10 Pounds Quickly and Permanently!

If you have been seeking out the fastest way to lose weight then today I will introduce you to a unique, new way to lose weight that has never been done until now. It involves eating foods to stimulate your metabolism to burn more fat than usual. Best of all this diet doesn't fall into the pitfalls that other diets typically do as it is able to yield permanent results. Before I jump into this though here are two other things you can try to begin losing weight rapidly.

#1 - Matcha Tea: This is basically the elite version of green tea or what green tea should always be. It is the ground up green tea leaves powder in the whole form. Matcha is one of the strongest natural weight loss
products and best of all the caffeine content in it is unrefined so it doesn't have the negative stimulation effects associated with other forms of caffeine. On top of all this it's an excellent anti-oxidant. A very effective way to lose 10 pounds quickly in addition to my other suggestions.

#2 - Bowel Cleanse: Every day drink a fiber shake made up of either ground up flax, chia or hemp seeds. These insoluble fibers achieve a scrubbing like action within the body which will help to quickly eliminate excess waste from the colon and with it the toxins and excess weight you carry around.

The diet I referred to in my introduction is known as the calorie shifting diet, it involves eating a diet that is open and doesn't limit you. You actually need to eat 4 complete meals every day to make it work and it utilizes the foods as stimulation for your metabolism to burn more fat than normal. It is the only diet in existence that can do this and best of all it has people losing 10 pounds in under 2 weeks permanently as when the diet ends your metabolism still goes strong burning off calories from everything you eat. great 8 eating tips for fast weight loss

low Carb, Low Fat, More protein, Eat all the fat you want. . . . . These are the many things we hear as we are bombarded with the latest and NOT always the greatest diet and eating tips when trying to find the Silver Bullet for permanent weight loss. Well I thought that we would talk about common sense proven tips that will ensure that along with a solid fitness program, will help support your fitness and health goals for life. Eating Tip 1Eat Slow- If you read about the French Paradox, which discusses why the French eat a lot of fatty foods, but are a leaner society than that of the United States.

They take their meals very seriously and it is one of the most important times of the day. You will get multiple benefits from this tip. Eating Slow will help your body absorb the food at the right level allowing you to fill up much quicker as it will not provide a tendency for you to OVEREAT!!!
he other awesome benefit is that you can spend more time with your family so that you can share the important things in life with each other!!!Eating Tip 2Eat 5-6 times per day. Do not allow your blood sugar levels to drop, in between meals. By eating more often and eating the right types of foods that are on the low end of the glycemic index, you can keep your blood sugar levels more even throughout the day, and ensure that you are not getting those mid-afternoon yawns and also help keep the excess weight off. Remember that when you spike your blood sugar by eating simple sugars and refined carbohydrates, this will potentially cause your body to store fat!!!Eating Tip 3Eat Your Breakfast. . . I was bad at this many years ago, but I learned to fuel up early in the day. Eating a good solid breakfast to start your day helps supply you with the fuel you need to get started, especially if you are incorporating a early morning fitness program in to your day. You need the fuel to get your engine going in the morning. Do not starve your body early, because you may have the tendency to binge eat later, because your body gets into the craving mode. Feed your body early!!Eating Tip 4Slow down as the sun goes down. What do I mean by this? Well just as important as it is to eat a great breakfast to start the day, it is also as equally important to reduce your food consumption as the day goes on. So plan to eat a good solid breakfast, a good lunch, and reduce your meal portions at dinner time. Remember as you get closer to bedtime your body starts to wind down and you will not have the same opportunity at night to burn those consumed meal calories as you did earlier in the day.

So eat more early and back down as you reach sun down. Eating Tip 5Give yourself 3 hours!!! Yes 3 hours before going to bed. Do not consume anymore calories. As I mentioned before, your body starts to slow down as the day goes on and gets ready for sleep. You do not want to consume a lot of calories right before you go to bed, because you will end of potentially storing those calories as FAT!!!Your body sometimes give you a false sense of being hungry as you bedtime nears. You get those 9pm cravings. . . And a lot of people end up hitting the Refrigerator and over-consuming right before bed time. . .

Not good for managing your weight and body fat %. If you just can't resist the munchies, then what I do is eat a few high good fat nuts. Like unsalted Almonds skin-on (good for fiber) or a couple spoonfuls of no sugar added all natural peanut butter. Eating a good quality fat food will satisfy your craving and will keep you from binging on something with lots of bad carbohydrates or simple sugars, like ice cream, cake or cookies. Eating Tip 6Stay focused on eating green in every meal. Always incorporate a good high quality low glycemic index dark green vegetable with each meal. I suggest things like spinach or romaine lettuce in your lunch time salads. Eating broccoli, asparagus, or steamed spinach as your vegetable at dinner time. All of these dark green vegetables supply your body with great vitamins and nutrients as well as being great sources of fiber and are naturally low on the glycemic index scale and will keep your blood sugar levels from spiking after eating. So think Dark green at meal time and challenge yourself to keep it as part of each and every eating event. Eating Tip 7Blend your foods. . Blending your foods means making sure that if you are eating a food item that does contain carbohydrates make sure that you incorporate a good low fat protein along with it. Eating a low carb tortilla wrap where the first ingredient is whole wheat flour that is unrefined. Add lean chicken breast as part of your filling in the wrap, maybe with some thinly shredded romaine lettuce and other veggies. Eating Tip 8Use splenda as your sweetener of choice, when looking for a simple sugar replacement. I have tried many sugar subs over the years an no other product has the taste of sugar like splenda does. Not equal and surely not sweet and low. Splenda is outstanding for sprinkling on low glycemic fresh fruit like blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, and I also use it to sweeten my drink of choice. Caffeine Free Green Tea that I infuse with cinnamon stick and whole cloves. What a refreshing cold beverage that keeps the caffeine out of your diet, provides you a great antioxidant and does not spike your blood sugar levels by using the no calorie sweetner in splenda. So I hope you enjoy my GREAT 8!!!These eating tips will help keep you on the right track, when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. . All of these tips are the tools that I live by every day. . . . Do Low Carbohydrate Diets Lead to Weight Loss Success?

So your neighbor, office mate, best friend, whoever just lost 10 pounds in only two weeks following the latest in high protein low carbohydrate diets. And now you’re thinking you should give it a go -- have even started the search for high protein low carbohydrate recipes?

True, high protein low carb diets seem to be leading many people to weight loss success. Trouble is, they seemed to do it 30 years ago, too. They were the rage in the early 70s, and look where many of us are today: growing fatter with each decade.

The bottom line: Diets -- low carb diets or not -- simply don’t work for the vast majority of people. If that doesn't convince you, look at some of the reasons why high protein low carbohydrate diets seem to create weight loss success stories -- but really don't.

“I’m not hungry when I eat high protein low carb diets. ”
Many people say they feel more satisfied eating low carbohydrate diets. And indeed, studies show protein is the most satiating nutrient. Proteins and fat (which is usually in high protein low carbohydrate foods) cause your body to release cholecystokinin, a hormone that contributes to the feeling of fullness. Some protein in meals and even snacks may help us feel more satisfied and go longer between eating. But the key word is “some. ” We don’t need an excess of protein, or low carb diets, to get these effects. By just eating balanced meals that contain grain/starchy foods, protein foods, vegetables and/or fruits and some fat, most people can achieve the same satiety. One other important note is that hunger control with low carbohydrate diets is often the result of ketosis (when your body burns fat for fuel. ) Ketosis is very unhealthy, causing nausea, headaches, fatigue, even coma.

“Results are results – I saw successful weight loss, didn’t I?”

Many people do lose weight on high protein low carb diets. Instead of fat, however, they're initially losing more water than anything else -- and it quickly returns once off low carb diets. They seem to see successful weight loss, too, because low carb diets restrict many foods, resulting in eating less than usual.

The big question is: Is it really successful weight loss if it doesn't stay off? For most people, if weight loss is achieved quickly and with a restrictive method such as a diet that does not allow for individual likes and dislikes, then the lost pounds will return, along with discouragement, defeat and even more pounds than before. What’s more, high protein low carb diets may also increase risk for health problems such as osteoporosis, cancer, even heart disease. A healthy intake of whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables -- often on the “avoid” list in high protein low carb diets – appears to help reduce this risk, and is the mainstay of a sensible plan to achieve weight loss success.

Create your own weight loss success story.

Despite what you hear about high protein low carb diets, there's little evidence that weight loss success is truly (permanently) achieved. What's more, disordered eating behaviors are usually reinforced by high protein low carb diets, adding to the struggles that low carbohydrate diets and other diets are supposed to solve. Stop dieting now and start living a healthy lifestyle that truly leaves you feeling good!.

Treadmill Weight Loss Tips

Here is the beginning of my post. And here is the rest of it.
These treadmill weight loss tips are a great way to help you shed a few pounds and shape up. A treadmill is designed for the most natural form of exercise which is walking. You don't need any special skills to use these machines because if you can walk, you can exercise on a treadmill. Treadmill weight loss is one of the most successful methods of losing weight. Just be consistent and work within your fat burning target range for 45 minutes or more per session at least 5 to 6 days per week. If you are looking to shed unwanted pounds, implement a treadmill workout routine along with a sensible,

healthy diet. The treadmill allows you the convenience of exercising in a safe, comfortable, climate controlled environment anytime day or night. If you are just starting out, check with your doctor before you begin any exercise regime. When you begin, start at a nice, easy pace, do shorter workouts for a few weeks and increase the length and intensity as your fitness level improves.
The main thing to keep in mind is to keep your body moving for as long and fast as you can but still remain comfortable. The faster the pace the more calories you will burn. The more calories you burn, the more weight you will lose. Regular exercise on a treadmill will increase your body's metabolism and make it work more efficiently to burn more fat. The best treadmill workout plan is one that becomes a daily habit, just like brushing your teeth. If you do a treadmill workout routine everyday you don't have to think about it, and it becomes a good habit. It soon becomes part of your normal day and you look forward to it. Consistency is the key to success. Here are some important tips to remember when walking:

Maintain a proper posture, keep you head up, relax your neck and look straight ahead. Let your arms swing naturally at your side and loosely cup your hands. Hold your tummy in and keep your hips relaxed and loose. Take steps that are comfortable for you, not too short or too long. Concentrate on your breathing. Try to breathe normally, taking in deep, smooth breaths.

Milk: The Weight Loss Drug

Lose Weight - Grab A GlassIn childhood, we heard it: Drink a glass of milk at every meal. Now TV commercials are touting the weight-loss effects of milk and other dairy products. Can dairy actually keep weight under control? How is that even possible?Michael Zemel, PhD, director of the Nutrition Institute at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, has published numerous papers on this subject. He outlines his latest research in the January 2003 Journal of Nutrition, mouse studies showing the role of calcium in weight gain and fat storage.

Too many people drop dairy from their diets when they try to lose weight, he says. "They're shooting themselves in the foot when they do that. Dairy products contain literally hundreds of compounds that all have a positive effect on human health and enhance the fat-burning machinery," he explains.

Milk The Why & How"When we cut dairy products, we send the body a signal, to make more fat," says Zemel. "When your body is deprived of calcium, it begins conserving calcium. That mechanism prompts your body to produce higher levels of a hormone called calcitriol, and that triggers an increased production of fat cells. "High levels of calcitriol "tell" fat cells to store themselves in the body, he says.
This increase in calcitriol also "tells" fat cells to expand, he says. "So you're getting bigger, fatter fat cells. And a lot of big, fat cells makes for a big, fat person. "Extra calcium in your diet suppresses this hormone, he says. Your body breaks down more fat, and fat cells become leaner, trimmer. A high-dairy diet can boost weight loss by about 70%.

But wait, there's more. "It turns out that milk, cheese, and yogurt are much more effective than calcium supplements or calcium-fortified foods," Zemel says. Why? Dairy products are a complex collection of compounds. Like phytochemicals found in fruits and vegetables, there's more than vitamins and minerals in dairy products. "They are not classically nutrients, but are recognized as having beneficial effects.

"Fat Calories Still Count, But Calcium Will Change Your Body CompositionDairy isn't a weight-loss miracle, says Zemel. Calories still count. But even if you don't restrict calories, taking in more calcium will change your body composition. You're shifting calories from fat to lean body mass. "On the scales, you may not see a change. But we've seen a loss of body fat," he says.

"We need to think of milk as more than a calcium-delivery vehicle," he says. "It's more than just calcium. It's high-quality protein, a collection of amino acids that provides positive effects on skeleton, muscle, and fat. "Zemel's research holds water, says Lara Hassan, MS, a nutritionist with the Cooper Clinic in Dallas. Indeed, "studies are showing that high calcium increases fat oxidation or fat burning, and that results in greater fat loss, and weight loss if it's a reduced-calorie diet.

". She cites one study in which obese men consumed two cups of low-fat yogurt a day, and made no other changes in their diet. They lost an average of 11 pounds over the course of a year. Water Heavy Foods Tell Your Brain You're FullTomato juice, tomato soup, vegetable soup, water-heavy foods like these seem to trigger receptors in the stomach that tell the brain you're sufficiently fed, says Barbara Rolls, PhD, a professor at Pennsylvania State University and author of The Volumetrics Weight-Control Plan: Feel Full on Fewer Calories.

In fact, satiety, that "I'm full" feeling, is the secret ingredient to weight management. "People don't like to deny themselves. They feel a sense of failure when they deprive themselves.

"Broth, soups, and juices, along with whole fruits, vegetables, and grains, are high in fiber and water content, and low in fat and calories. "If you have soup before a meal, it helps control hunger and you eat less," Rolls says. "Low-calorie soup takes the edge off your hunger. " Just be careful not to eat rich, cream-based soups, they could add calories to your diet, she says.

When You Add Water Rich Foods, You Add Volume But Few CaloriesHow it works: Water dilutes the calories in food. You can then eat more for the same calories. When you add water-rich blueberries to your breakfast cereal, or water-rich eggplant to your lasagna, you add food volume but few calories, Rolls explains. Grapes have more water content than raisins. For a 100-calorie snack, you can eat more grapes than raisins.

It's just that simple. Fat Has Less Water Than Any FoodFat has less water than any food element at 9 calories per gram, alcohol is next at 7, followed by protein and carbohydrates each at 4, Rolls says. Want More Examples?Consider the difference between chocolate milk and a milk chocolate bar. A 1 1/2 ounce milk chocolate bar has 230 calories, while an 8-ounce glass of chocolate milk made with whole milk has 250 calories.

For about the same calories, you get a portion that is five times bigger than the chocolate bar. Add more vegetables, and less pasta and fat, to a pasta dish, and you get more food volume. You see the difference, and feel satisfied when you eat it, she says. Obese people eat more low-water foods than normal-weight people, big portions of meats, full-fat milk and cheese, fried eggs, high-fat desserts, one study shows.

They also ate few high-water foods like salads, fruits, skim milk. Psychological satisfaction is powerful, she says. "We're talking about dietary changes that people can sustain. If fat content is too low, it doesn't satisfy your hunger. If you don't enjoy foods, you are not in the long run going to sustain the eating pattern.

That's where people go wrong, they go too extreme, so they're on the same old dieting roller coaster. "Make The Weight Loss SwitchRolls' theories are right on the money, says Hassan. "There's a lot of research to back this up. Foods with high water content take longer to eat, and they generally leave people feeling fuller. People feel better when their plate is full and their stomach is full.

"Her advice:Drink two glasses of water or other non-calorie beverage before a meal. At a restaurant, either eat a small salad or broth-based soup. At home, fill up half the plate with vegetables, one-fourth with a starch, and one-fourth with protein -- so the dominant part is vegetables. If you want seconds, veggies would be the choice. Before going to a restaurant, eat a high-volume, low-calorie snack, fat-free milk, a piece of fruit, a cup of light yogurt.

"You won't be famished, so you won't eat a whole basket of chips or bread. "If you get the evening munchies, drink bouillon, hot tea, or light cocoa, or have two cups strawberries with light cool whip. "It's a great dessert and only 100 calories," Hassan says. Tea is calorie-free, has less caffeine than coffee, and is a great source of antioxidants. .

How to Safely Lose Weight with a Water Fast

A water fast should only be done for 1-3 days. Any longer than that, and you will slow your metabolism (which most likely is not something you want) as well as possibly cause other physical ailments. If you want to do a fast for longer than a few days, you should consider doing a juice fast instead.

Step 1

When doing a water fast, you should drink more than your standard 8 glasses of water. This is because food has water in it, and since you're not eating you want to make up the difference. Try to drink about 12-14 glasses of water throughout the days you're fasting. Be sure to spread out the water throughout the day, rather than just drinking it all in large spurts.

Step 2

When breaking the water fast you need to do it cautiously. On the first day try to stick to juices, soups, and soft fruits and vegetables. On the second day you should start eating dairy again, and have some nuts or grains. On the third day you should introduce seafood and chicken or turkey back into your diet. On the fourth day feel free to eat your normal amounts of sugar, processed carbs, and red meats.

How to Lose Weight fastely with a Juice Fast

In this post i discuss how to juice helps you to reduce your weight dramatically. Here is the step by Step guide for it
Step 1
The first step to a juice fast is to decide how long your fast will last. I suggest doing a juice fast for 2-3 days. It is not safe to juice fast for long periods of time, so I do not suggest doing more than 5 days.

Step 2
I suggest taking multi vitamins during your juice fast. You may also want to take other vitamins, especially calcium

Step 3
If you're not using your own juicer and decide to purchase store bought juice, be sure to only drink 100% juice and nothing with added or unnatural ingredients. Choosing organic juices would be best.

Step 4
Drink a large variety of juice. It's a good idea to also get vegetable juice, and for those that don't like veggie juice you can buy juices with vegetables where the flavor is hidden by the fruits used in the juice. Don't buy anything with added salt.

Step 5
Ideally you should drink between 6-8 glasses of juice per day (8 ounce servings). Drinking more would be fine, feel free to drink as much as you'd like. However, be sure not to go lower than 6 glasses.

Step 6
Even though you're drinking this much juice, you still should be drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day.

Step 7
For those that prefer, you can buy juice that is blended specifically for juice fasting. You can find some of these under Resources.

how to eat low fat diet

Low Fat Diet The logic of these diets is that, because fat contains more calories than carbohydrates or protein, limiting the fat in our diet is a simple way to promote weight loss.

All types of added fats, such as butter, margarine, mayonnaise, sour cream and salad dressings, are reduced or eliminated. Foods high in fat, such as fried foods, snack foods, cheeses and red meat, should be replaced with lower-fat versions or eaten in smaller portions. Most low-fat diets call for an increase of carbohydrate intake in the form of pasta, breads and potatoes.

A high-fat diet has been associated with numerous health conditions, from obesity to heart disease and even some types of cancer. The plan encourages the use of foods naturally low in fat, such as fruits and vegetables, which also contain healthy amounts of essential nutrients .
Upside of Low Fat Diets
  • Foods that are low in fat - for example, vegetables, whole grains, fruit - are generally healthy.
  • Many high fat foods are also high in sugar, which is bad for you and can lead to weight gain. Cutting down on cookies and ice cream is never a bad thing!
  • A low-fat diet has been shown to reduce the risk of many health conditions, including high cholesterol, heart disease and obesity.

Downside of Low Fat Diets

  • Not all foods that are low in fat are also low in calories. For example, bread and pasta are both fairly low in fat but can pile on the calorie intake if eaten to excess.
  • There has been an explosion of foods that are reduced in fat yet contain lots of sugar: snack bars, cookies, cakes, candies, ice cream and so on. Those foods do not promote a healthy diet, even if they are low in fat.
  • Low-fat diets assume that all fat is created equal, which researchers now know is not the case. Monounsaturated fats, the type found in olive oil and certain oily fish, have been found to be essential to a healthy body and mind.
  • Some vitamins (e.g., vitamins A, E and K) are found predominantly in fatty foods. People who eat a low-fat diet normally are advised to take vitamin supplements.
  • Fat makes food taste better - it's sad but true. Therefore, if you try to eliminate fat from your diet, you end up with boring, bland meals, making it less likely that you'll stick to the diet.

Weight loss fastly complete guide

When you're starting a diet or exercise plan, weight loss guides and ideas can provide a useful tool to help you along the way.

Weight loss guides can help you ensure that your diet or your exercise programme is safe, and also provide you with goals to aim for, and ways to measure your progress.

Many weight loss guides and ideas are geared towards specific diets or programmes, but here are five general weight loss pointers to help ensure you've chosen a safe and healthy diet to follow:

1. Does the diet include all food groups?
You need to include grains, fruits, vegetables and dairy in your diet to ensure you're not missing out on essential vitamins and minerals. Lack of variety also makes it harder to stick to a diet long term.
2. Does the diet restrict calories too severely?
Nutritionists estimate that women need a minimum of 1,900 calories daily, and men need a minimum of 2,550. A minimum of 2,000 calories a day is the safest option for a healthy body.

3. Does the diet include your favourite foods?
If the diet you've chosen bans foods with a high sugar content you might find it hard to stick to during special occasions. Better to allow yourself small amounts of your favourite food, so you can keep to your diet in the long term.

4. Does the diet advise exercise?
Diets that promise quick weight loss without exercise are misleading, as research has demonstrated that exercise is crucial both to losing weight and to maintaining weight loss.

5. Does the plan fit your lifestyle and budget?

Many slimming programmes use their own brand of foods, which can become costly. You're less likely to stick to a diet if you can't afford it, so research the cost implications first.

Diet tips for staying motivated

It might be actresses such as Suzanne Sommers and Jane Fonda, or models such as Christie Brinkley or Kathy Ireland. It seems that a number of celebrities today offer their own weight loss programs. The programs are appealing because we see these various svelte celebrities and we want to have bodies just like them. The celebrities are also highly likable, so we have a predisposition to be accepting of their products.

However, did you ever stop to think whether these celebrities have any nutritional training? Do they have medical training? Is the information that they offer nutritionally sound? Or is it just a good sales pitch?
Nutrition experts Annette B. Natow and Jo-Ann Heslin, authors of the book Get Skinny the Smart Way, say that consumers should be leery of celebrity-inspired diet books.

Nutrition experts Annette B. Natow and Jo-Ann Heslin, authors of the book Get Skinny the Smart Way, say that consumers should be leery of celebrity-inspired diet books. They point out that such books are often based upon nutritional fiction and that, while the diets outlined in these books may result in short-term weight loss, they can be far from healthy in the long run. Therefore, you might consider passing up the celebrity diet books and opting for those written by nutritional experts instead.

But celebrities aren't the only ones preaching fad diets. For instance, there's the so-called grapefruit diet which recommends consuming a grapefruit prior to each meal. Another fad is the cabbage soup diet, which requires you to consume all the cabbage soup you can handle. Other fads call for eating all the eggs you can...consuming only raw foods...or fasting every other day. Such diets are not only based on nutritional misinformation--they can also be dangerous.

For instance, let's take a closer look at the cabbage soup diet. No major health organization has endorsed it. Moreover, the American Heart Association disapproves of it, noting that it can actually harm you. Promoters of this diet say that you can lose as much as 15 pounds a week by following it--what they don't say is that most of that weight is water weight. Once you begin eating normally again, you will see your weight rise once more. Some of the side-effects of the cabbage soup diet include a feeling of weakness, stomach pains, and diarrhea.

Yet another questionable diet approach is what's known as food combining. Such a diet assumes that you are overweight because you are not eating the right combination of food. The requirements of such a diet can seem quite arbitrary. For instance, you might be told that you can eat a banana only in the morning. This is rubbish, since your stomach can deal with a variety of different foods at one time. The idea behind such a diet is to eat food with fewer calories, but there are other methods you can use to accomplish the same goals.

Some companies even claim that you can shed pounds while you dream. They say that, if you use their product right before bedtime, you will lose weight. In actuality, no company can make such a claim with any degree of credibility. It is impossible to burn a large number of calories while snoozing. In other cases, you may be tempted to try to lose weight by consuming special milkshakes or candy bars. In essence, these products are just milk and candy with certain vitamins and minerals added. However, one rarely feels satisfied after consuming these products.

As a result, you may find yourself actually consuming additional calories during the rest of the day. While you might be able to theoretically lose weight in the short-term, you'll find it difficult to maintain the weight loss over the long haul.

The fact of the matter is that there is a great deal of money that can be made through the sale and marketing of diet products. As long as America has a large contingent of overweight people, companies will try to make a profit off of overeating. It is up to you to be savvy enough to recognize a diet fad when you see it and opt for a different approach to losing weight. You'll find that there are really no short-cuts to weight loss. Any successful diet program takes time, patience, and determination, along with a willingness to change your eating patterns.

7 ways to lose your weight fastly

People ask me the several question regarding weight loss techniques, but most question of the people is How to lose weight fastly. In this post I am going to tell you the best idea to reduce the weight fastly. The times result may differs according to person according to his body structure and his weight. Some may get the result quicker whereas some may take a bit more time. But i can assure is the the fastest way to lose you way definately help you . The key thing is rapid weight loss can happen if you burn fat and cleanse toxins out of your body. There are several things you can do in order to burn fat and cleanse toxins out of your body.

I'm going to show you 7 tips that will help you do just that.

1. Begin to exericse
Begin to Exercise. Try and exercise a little each day. Even if you can only do 20 minutes each day in exercise, that's 20 minutes more then what you were getting before. you don't have to take exercise for bruden try to do it with fun like Go for walks, go for swimming, jogging, start lifting weights. the most benefit of exercise is that it will not create side effect on you health but improve your health condition in dramatical way.

3.Try to avoid food that contains a lot of "fat" (Trans fat, total fat).
Carbs and protein [Breads, wheat, rices and pastas with meats, eggs, cheese, milk]
When you eat these at the same time, they release chemicals in your body which cancel each other out and the food you've eaten sits in your stomach for a longer period of time. The result is constipation, and gluttony. and the one more thing Never combine your fruits with ANY OTHER FOOD. Wait at least two hours before and after eating fruit to eat any other food. If you don't, it will just rot in your stomach and won't digest.
As an alternative, eat your carbs with vegetables and your meats with vegetables. It's a good balanced meal.

4.Use a cleanse.
People can actually lose weight just by using a cleanse. Did you know that people have at least seven or eight pounds of waste stored in their body? By simply using a cleanse people can remove the toxins and waste from their body. Are you looking for the quickest weight loss, if so consider liquid cleanses.

5. Stop drinking soda pop and Soda pop
soda pop and Soda pop contains so many calories it's crazy. Your basically drinking cups of sugar. Instead try and drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Just by cutting out pop will definitely help you towards rapid weight loss. It also is a good way to flush toxins out of your body as well.

6. Drink maximum water
Drink at least 3 litres water have a Breakfast. it really is the most important mal of the day only eat when u feel hungry sometimes when we feel Hungry we are actually just thirsty drink water when u feel Hungry. The most important one s water walk, don't eat more than 2,000 Calories a day

6. Stop drinking alcohol
Stop drinking alcohol all together or at least cut back big time. For some it might not be a big thing as you may be just a social drinker, for others you might like to have a drink everyday after a long days work. The thing is alcohol is very rich in sugar and carbohydrates and aids in your body storing fat. Definitely a thing to cut way back on if you plan on losing weight rapidly.

7. Final Thought implement it clearly
Stick with your new routine. When people stick to their diet and their new work out routine it should become a habit. If you're looking to lose weight rapidly, people need to stick with it. Don't stop and then start again. If people start and then stop their diet and exercise routine it's actually hard on your system. It won't help towards the rapid weight loss results you're looking for. It will end up getting you frustrated on the slow progress. Rapid weight loss is much more effective when people stick with it.
